Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Hunt Auto Group ("we", "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information when you visit huntautogroup.com, contact us, or apply for financing. We follow applicable federal law and the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, including Pennsylvania's Breach of Personal Information Notification Act (73 P.S. § 2301 et seq.) and, where applicable to financing activity, the federal Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) and its Safeguards Rule.
1. Information we collect
- Contact data you provide: name, phone number, email address, and the content of your messages (calls, texts, WhatsApp, web forms, social media inquiries).
- Vehicle interest data: information about vehicles you inquire about, trade-in details, and preferences you share with us.
- Financing data: if you apply for credit, the application is collected and processed on a secure third-party platform operated by our licensed dealer and lending partners. That data may include sensitive information (address, date of birth, Social Security number, income, employment). We receive only the information needed to assist with your purchase.
- Automatic data: device type, browser, operating system, pages visited, referring URL, and approximate location via cookies and similar technologies (Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, PostHog) - only after you accept cookies on our consent banner.
- Session recordings: if you accept cookies, PostHog records how you move through the site - pages, clicks, scrolling - so we can see where our website confuses people and fix it. What you type is masked before it is recorded, and recording is switched off entirely on our financing application, credit application and trade-in valuation pages, so no information you enter there is ever captured. Recordings are deleted automatically after 30 days. Decline cookies, or send a Global Privacy Control signal, and nothing is recorded at all.
- Call recordings: phone calls to and from our business may be recorded for quality assurance and training purposes, as disclosed in our Terms and Conditions.
2. How we use it
- To respond to inquiries and help you find, purchase, sell, or finance a vehicle.
- To process financing requests through licensed dealer and lender partners.
- To send service and marketing communications you have consented to receive (you can opt out at any time - reply STOP to texts or use the unsubscribe link in emails).
- To measure and improve our website and advertising (analytics and ad platforms, with your cookie consent).
- To personalize your experience and show you relevant inventory.
- To prevent fraud, enforce our Terms, and protect our legal rights.
- To comply with legal obligations (tax, titling, OFAC/identity verification, record retention).
3. How we share it
- Dealer and lender partners: to complete a sale or financing request. These parties are independently responsible for their handling of your data under GLBA and their own privacy notices.
- Service providers: website hosting (Vercel), CRM (Supabase), communications, and analytics vendors under contractual confidentiality obligations. These providers process data on our behalf and may not use it for their own purposes.
- Legal: when required by law, subpoena, court order, or to protect our rights, property, or safety, or the safety of others.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, sale, or transfer of business assets, your information may be transferred to the successor entity.
- We do NOT sell your personal information. We do not share sensitive financing data for marketing purposes.
4. Cookies and tracking
- On your first visit we ask for consent before enabling analytics and advertising cookies (Google Consent Mode v2). You may decline; core site functions work without them.
- Your cookie choice is remembered for 180 days. You can also clear cookies in your browser settings at any time.
- Types of cookies: Essential (site functionality, no consent required), Analytics (Google Analytics and PostHog - measure traffic, usage patterns and where the site is hard to use), Advertising (Meta Pixel - measures ad effectiveness).
- Do Not Track: Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. We honor your cookie consent choice via our banner; we do not currently respond separately to browser DNT signals, as there is no industry-wide DNT standard.
5. Data security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the data, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, secure hosting infrastructure, and vendor security requirements consistent with the FTC Safeguards Rule for dealer financing activity. We regularly review our security practices. No method of transmission is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data breach notification
If a breach of security affects your unencrypted personal information as defined by Pennsylvania's Breach of Personal Information Notification Act, we will notify you without unreasonable delay, consistent with 73 P.S. § 2303, and, where required, notify consumer reporting agencies and the Pennsylvania Attorney General.
7. Data retention
We keep contact and transaction records only as long as needed for the purposes above and for legal record-keeping periods applicable to vehicle sales and financing documents (typically 5-7 years for financial records as required by law), then delete or de-identify them. Call recordings are retained for a commercially reasonable period. You may request earlier deletion where permitted by law.
8. Your choices and rights
These rights are available to everyone who uses this site, regardless of which state you live in. We do not ask where you live before honoring a request.
- Opt out of marketing at any time - reply STOP to any text message, use the unsubscribe link in any email, or tell us by phone.
- Change your cookie and tracking choices whenever you like using the Your Privacy Choices link, which also appears in the footer of every page. You do not need to clear your browser to change your mind, and withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it.
- Global Privacy Control. If your browser or an extension sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a binding opt-out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We apply it automatically before any advertising or analytics technology loads, and we do not show you a cookie banner asking you to reconsider.
- Do not sell or share my personal information. We do not sell your personal information for money. However, advertising technologies on this site - specifically the Meta Pixel - may constitute "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under several state privacy laws. Declining advertising cookies, or sending a GPC signal, opts you out of that sharing. You may also email info@huntautogroup.com with the subject "Do Not Sell or Share" and we will apply it to your record.
- Access, correction, and deletion. Email info@huntautogroup.com to request a copy of the contact data we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. We respond within 30 days and honor requests to the extent the law allows. Records we are legally required to retain - signed sale and financing documents - cannot be deleted on request.
- No retaliation. We will not deny you service, charge you a different price, or give you a lower quality of service because you exercised any of these rights.
- Appeal. If we decline a request, you may ask us to reconsider by replying to our response. Several state laws give you the right to appeal and to contact your state Attorney General if you remain unsatisfied.
- Financing data held by lender partners is governed by their own GLBA privacy notices, which carry their own opt-out rights. Ask us and we will tell you which lenders received your application.
9. How we use artificial intelligence
We use AI tools in parts of how this site is built and operated, and we would rather tell you plainly than bury it.
Where AI is involved:
- Vehicle descriptions. Some of the written descriptions on our listings are drafted with AI assistance from the vehicle's verified data - its VIN decode, EPA fuel economy figures, NHTSA safety ratings, and the equipment recorded for that specific car. Any listing whose description was drafted this way carries a visible notice on the page itself.
- Social media and advertising copy. Some of the text in our posts and advertisements is drafted with AI assistance and is labeled as such where it appears.
- Reading vehicle documents. We use image recognition to read a VIN or an odometer from a photograph. This extracts information that already exists on the vehicle; it does not generate anything.
- Internal analysis. We use AI to summarize our own sales and website data. This never touches published content and never involves your personal information being used to train anyone's model.
What AI never does here: it does not decide whether you are approved for financing, it does not set your price or your terms, and it does not evaluate you as a customer. Those decisions are made by people and by our lender partners under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Accuracy. AI-assisted descriptions are generated from verified vehicle data and reviewed by a person before publication. They are still marketing copy, not a specification sheet. The vehicle itself, its title, its CARFAX report, and any written purchase agreement always control over anything written on this website. If you spot something wrong in a listing, tell us and we will correct it.
Your information. We do not send your personal information - your name, contact details, credit application, or trade-in details - to any AI provider. AI tools here work with vehicle data and public content only.
10. Children
Our services are not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
11. Third-party links
Our website may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing personal information.
12. Changes
We may update this policy; the "Last updated" date above reflects the current version. Material changes will be posted on this page. If we make significant changes to how we use your personal information, we will provide prominent notice.
